Sept. 6 - Pullman Labor Day Event - On Labor Day, union members and their families in the Chicago area will honor and celebrate the historic Pullman railroad strike that began in Chicago in 1894 and the struggles of the African American Pullman porters against the railroad for decent wages and working conditions. The celebration will take place at the Pullman State Historic Site, 111th Street and Cottage Grove Avenue. Celebration will feature music, exhibits, food and entertainment.
Time: 2:00 pm – 6:00 pm

More than a farmers’ market, closer to a street festival, the Mid-Week Market features locally grown fruits and vegetables, food vendors offering a wide selection of ready-to-eat items and local retailers selling goods and services – all in the heart of downtown Oak Park on Lake Street, just east of Harlem Avenue. Local microbrews and wine are available for on-site consumption as well, along with food demonstrations and live music. Join WCPT and the BDC’s Historic Depot District Special Events Committee in celebrating its 10th annual Oktoberfest this year. The successful two-day event takes place in the Depot District on both sides of the Metra tracks between Oak Park and Home Avenues. In addition to record attendance of residents and visitors over the two days, it includes lots of food, live performances, amusement rides, kids' activities, crafters, vendors and a beer garden.
If you'd like to participate as a food vendor, please call 708-788-8100 to request an application.
Once again dogs will be able to participate by attending Dog-toberfest, presented by The Urban Mutt. This dog-friendly area will feature activities, food and "beer" for dogs.
