Vet Talk Radio

Join Antonio and Fred for Vet Talk on Saturdays at 6pm on WCPT AM & FM

Since the USA was founded, and even before, military men and women have been an integral part of our nation. They are the very fabric of what defines us, then and now. Without their service, the USA would not exist. Simple truth.

Our military personnel serve proudly, bravely, and dutifully.  We owe them our gratitude. They honored their commitment and we must honor ours.  However, we the people have not always held up our end of the bargain.  Budgets, politics and public opinion all factor in to the issues that face our soldiers.

The goal of VET TALK is to increase public understanding of ALL veterans issues and to effect positive change.  The show provides critical information for veterans trying to navigate the benifits system TODAY!

The weekly conversation reveals what veterans face when they return... from the Veterans Administration, from the community and from their families.  The show hosts, Antonio Correa (U.S. Marine Corps) and Fred Newson (U.S. Navy), also shed light on what military families go through during base transfers, deployment and return from combat.  Prominent guests include elected officials, government agency staff, and representatives of non-profit groups that help.

Antonio Correa (U.S. Marine Corps)

Antonio Correa fell in love with radio when he was 10 years old.  But growing up in the Back of the Yards neighborhood of Chicago, where violence was rampant, did not afford Antonio to persue his ambitions.  In 1994 he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps and was honorably discharged in 1998.  The Montgomery G.I. Bill and the Illinois Veterans Grant gave Antonio the opportunity to attend Southern Illinois University at Carbondale and Graduate with a Bachelors Degree in Radio and Television.

Since then Antonio has worked for several radio stations in the Chicago market operated by Univision, Newsweb Radio, and CBS.  At Univision, he had the privilege of working with one of Chicago's leading Spanish language radio hosts, Javier Salas.  A bulk of Antonio's experience has been at WCPT AM & FM where he is a Board Operator, Associate Producer and Co-Host for a variety of shows including Back on the Beat with Chicago political legend Dick Kay.  Antonio's role at WBBM Newsradio is assistant producer.

Antonio Correa's military and broadcasting background makes him uniquely qualified to host VET TALK.  He has learned from first hand experience that Veterans have no voice in the media; no one speaks for them.  More importantly, no one gives them the opportunity to speak for themselves.

Vet Talk is radio by Veterans, for Veterans.  It is Antonio Correa's way of continuing to serve his country, his community, and his comrades.  Semper Fi!
